I got my hair trimmed yesterday, and my stylist said, "Wow! Your hair looks great." Then she touched it and said, "Wow, it feels great, too."
We talked about the jojoba oil, and she said she has been researching it and was delighted to see I had such fantastic results. It's actually even looking better than the picture in my previous blog post. I've learned I can use a bit more of the oil, and it still doesn't weigh it down or look greasy.
Here's the rub. I've also been steering clear of sulfates and silicones. Most conditioners and leave-in products are loaded with silicones, which I believe provides instant results but makes my hair frizzier and dryer over time. She used a sulfate-free shampoo, but then loaded me down with the silicone-based leave-in product I used to love so much.
Now that my hair has been free of silicones for awhile, I couldn't stand the look and feel of it in my hair. I came home and washed it out and then conditioned it with a mix of silicone-free conditioner and jojoba oil. I'm back in business.
I guess they use the products they sell, and it makes me wonder what else I am using that's bullshit. It's so hard to know. I've squandered a bit of time today researching skin products. I feel certain I could retire a year earlier if I could take back the money I've wasted on useless and probably toxic face crap.
Some people use jojoba on the face. I might try that for awhile and see what happens.
